The VHPSA Chess Club was created in July 2023 to help people of various ages learn how to play chess. One goal of the club is to spread the beautiful game of chess, which originated in India under the name of ‘Chaturanga.’ Chess has many benefits to everyone, which is why setting up a chess club in VHPSA was vital. They are:
Chess helps in activating the Frontal Lobe and the Pre-Frontal Cortex, which is responsible for planning, judgement, self-control etc.
This game also helps people by enabling oneself to use different skills that other activities cannot accomplish. A few skills that chess brings to people is the ability to enhance problem solving skills, critical thinking, decision making, algebraic and geometric thinking etc.
Chess also unlocks the Right Side of the brain, which is a hard task to do. This side of the brain specializes in Creative Thinking and Imaginations. Chess can also prevent an individual from receiving different diseases, such as Alzheimer’s.

Fees for the VHPSA Chess Club are $15 per term, with the Tournaments Fees being either $10 or $15, depending on the type of Tournament taking place. All Coaching Sessions will be Online during the school terms only. Tournaments will be held every school holidays. All information details will be sent out to all registered players via the email provided by themselves.
