Established in 1988, the Vishva Hindu Parishad of Australia is a registered charity and community organisation dedicated to serving the Hindu and wider multicultural community across South Australia. Inspired by the ancient Hindu principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – “the world is one family,” we work to promote harmony, cultural continuity, community wellbeing, and social inclusion in a way that enriches all Australians. Our work is grounded in the belief that diverse cultures and traditions strengthen the social fabric of our state. We aim to nurture a dynamic, vibrant Hindu society that actively contributes to the prosperity, cohesion, and shared future of South Australia.
VHP’s vision is a society that embraces Harmony with Creation, recognising the interdependence of human communities, nature, and the environment. Guided by this timeless ideal, we seek to support cultural celebration, civic engagement, and positive contributions to social life in Australia.
We deliver our vision through purposeful, community-centred action:
• Providing social services and cultural development initiatives
• Inspiring participation in preserving Hindu heritage and values
• Building strong connections among diverse Hindu organisations through
mentoring, training, and networking
• Supporting art, culture, education, and youth development projects
• Promoting Unity in Diversity and multicultural harmony in partnership with
local councils, Australian federal and state governments, and other community
organisations
Through these efforts, VHP helps broaden appreciation of Hindu culture while
fostering understanding, respect, and collaboration across communities.
VHP South Australia achieves its mission through a range of ongoing programs and
activities, including:
• Community Engagement and Outreach: Festivals, cultural celebrations, and
public events that strengthen community identity and cohesion
• Social Services: Initiatives like community meals, senior support, and welfare
assistance
• Youth and Education: Leadership development, mentoring, and cultural
education programs
• Collaborative Platforms: Participation in forums and inter-organisational
efforts that encourage cooperation and shared purpose
• Cultural Heritage Projects: Preservation and promotion of Hindu language,
arts, heritage, and values for future generations
These programs offer tangible support to people of all ages and backgrounds, helping
build a more inclusive, resilient, and vibrant South Australia.
VHP is an independent, incorporated legal entity registered under Australian law.
We operate as a not-for-profit charity with transparent governance and
accountability. We do not lobby for political parties or political outcomes and
remain strictly apolitical in our work.
We are committed to serving the community without external direction from any
political organisation, religious institution outside Australia, or overseas entity. Our
operations are independently governed by our board and guided by Australian legal
and regulatory frameworks.
This independence allows us to focus wholly on community benefit, culture,
wellbeing, and harmony without partisan influence or affiliations.
We actively partner with:
• Local councils and government agencies
• Multicultural and interfaith organisations
• Community leaders and volunteers
• Social service and educational bodies
These partnerships amplify our impact and reinforce our shared goals: social
cohesion, cultural respect, mutual understanding, and community resilience.
Whether you are a community member, volunteer, donor, or partner organisation, your involvement strengthens the shared vision of a more inclusive and interconnected South Australia. Learn more about our programs, events, and opportunities to contribute on our website.
